Effect of Antiallergic Agents and Bronchial Hypersensitivity in Short-term Bronchial Asthma (2)

In this study, the “short-term” case was defined as a patient whose asthmatic symptoms first occurred less than one year before being enrolled in the study, and the “longterm” case, one whose asthmatic symptoms occurred for more than one year before the study. ventolin 100 mcg
Antiallergic agents used in this study included the following: disodium cromoglycate (DSCG) (Fujisawa Pharm Co., Ltd) (administered by inhalation three times a day); ibudilast (Kyorin Pharm Co., Ltd) or repirinast (Nikken Kagaku Co., Ltd) (lx)th administered orally twice a day); and tranilast (Kissei Pharm Co., Ltd) (administered orally three times a day). Repirinast (isoamyl 5,6-dihydro-7,8-dimethyl-4,5-dioxo-4H-pyrano [3,2-c] quinoline-2-carboxylate) is a derivative of cromon compound, tranilast” (N-(3\4’-dimethoxy-cinnamoyl) anthranilic acid (N-5’)), a derivative of nantenoside B, and ibudilast (3-isobutyryl-2-isopropylpyrazolo[ 1,5-«Jpyridine), a derivative of pyrazolopyridine. These are all acidic types of agents and are shown to have no antihistamine activity according to the companies’ leaflets. No patient received corticosteroid or gold therapy.
Histamine Inhalation Test
The histamine inhalation test was conducted in accordance with the method of the Japanese Society of Allergology’. Briefly, aerosols were generated with a nebulizer (type 646) at an air flow of 5 U min.
